POONCH, DECEMBER 30: Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal today presided over a crucial meeting of the District Level Standing Committee (DLSC) on Effective Border Management here in the Meeting Hall of the DC Office Complex. This meeting aimed to enhance coordination between security forces and the local populace residing near the Line of Control (LoC).

DC Kundal conducted a comprehensive review of the security arrangements in the district, focusing on the status of bunker construction and other pressing security concerns affecting border villages.

Officials from the Army and paramilitary forces provided updates on the current security scenario along the LoC, highlighting the ongoing efforts to maintain peace and stability in the region.

Commending the collaborative efforts of civil administration and security personnel, DC Kundal recognized the successful organization of cultural programs and sports events in border villages, which contribute to a vibrant community atmosphere.

Additionally, police representatives reported on the regular verification of outside workers at local establishments, including stone crushers and petrol pumps. They also assured that frequent checks are conducted at fence gates to bolster security.

DC Kundal emphasized the importance of effective communication between the border community and security forces. He directed Tehsildars to hold monthly meetings with Nambardars to ensure continuous dialogue and coordination among border residents.

Key updates were shared regarding the construction of bunkers adjacent to the LoC. The Assistant Commissioner Development was tasked with ensuring the completion of pending bunker projects, while the Executive Engineer of the PWD (R&B) was instructed to adhere to strict timelines.

The Forest Department was asked to activate beat guards and report any illegal encroachments on forest lands or potential hideouts throughout Poonch.

Furthermore, stress was laid on taking stringent action against drug peddling and other social issues, reinforcing the need for collaboration among civil departments, security agencies, and intelligence services to maintain peace in the district.

The meeting was attended by ADC Poonch, ACR, CPO, ACD, CMO, Tehsildar (HQ), XENs from R&B/Jal Shakti/JPDCL/REW, along with representatives from the Indian Army, BSF, Police and various intelligence agencies.
