Ganderbal: The residents of Anderwan area of Darsuma in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district complained of acute shortage of drinking water, claiming that Residents told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the failure of the Water Supply Scheme has resulted in severe hardships to the locals especially t the womenfolk due to shortage of clean drinking water. “We are facing an acute shortage of water and are being forced to use contaminated water for drinking purpose. During the harsh winter, it was very difficult to fetch drinking water from a nearby area, which is a kilometer away from our house,” said a local resident. Locals alleged that the government spent Rs 4.5 crore on the water supply scheme that was constructed after the demands raised by the people during Bak to village programme, but it has failed to serve any cause. He appealed Lieutenant Governor and Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal to look into the matter.
