JAMMU, OCTOBER 1: Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Jammu Sher Singh today chaired a meeting at his office to review the implementation of the Youth Empowerment Program (YEP).
During the meeting, the ADDC took stock of the status of youth-centric initiatives being implemented across departments and asked the officers to present department-wise progress.
He stressed that the District-Level YEP Cell must function as the coordination, implementation and monitoring unit for youth empowerment activities in the district. He directed the officers to complete youth mapping and prepare a comprehensive database covering students, unemployed youth, youth clubs, volunteers, entrepreneurs and sportspersons.
The ADDC called for intensified awareness and outreach in schools, colleges and villages, and for wider mobilisation of youth through educational institutions, NYKS/NSS, youth clubs and Panchayats. He also directed that skill workshops, career counseling, placement and entrepreneurship camps be organised on a regular basis, with strong linkages to employment exchanges, skill institutions and banks.
Emphasising convergence of schemes, he asked the departments to coordinate effectively to avoid duplication and ensure that benefits reach the intended youth. He also asked them to maintain authentic data and submit monthly progress reports on youth reached, registered, trained and linked with opportunities.
The ADDC further directed the officers to collect feedback from participating youth and to address implementation gaps promptly.
The meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer Ajaypal Singh, Deputy Director Employment Sunaina Saini, Deputy Director (PR) Moksha Dogra, District Health Officer Sophia Jan, AD Fisheries Munish Kumar besides Nodal Principal of Colleges, GCW Parade, and district officers of the concerned departments such as Skill Development, Education, Agriculture and Social Welfare.
