The tour kick-started with an awareness programme at Baggar in Doda district on 17th June followed by another at Bimalnar, block Drabshalla -Kishtwar on the next day.

On the last leg of the campaign, an awareness camp was organised especially for marginalized communities and pastoralists in the remote Mughal Maidan area of the district Kishtwar.

Addressing the farmers, Dr Mohammad Sajjad highlighted the critical role of the livestock sector in employment generation and economic growth of associated farmers. The Extension Officer laid special emphasis on opting for latest technology in breed improvement of livestock such as use of sex sorted semen in cattle breeding which ensures birth of only female calves with upto 90 percent accuracy thus boosting productivity of the dairy sector in the region. Additionally, he stressed on disease prevention in livestock by urging livestock owners to ensure 100 percent livestock vaccination against Foot and Mouth Disease under phase-6 of National Animal Disease Control Programme (NADCP), which is currently ongoing in the entire country.
