No matter the outcome, the trouble in a country like Pakistan will continue to live on because there has been a lot of side-shifting done by both the Government as well Khan-led PTI. When the then opposition under the banner of PDM started a movement against the then Government of the PTI, Khan alleged that it was a foreign conspiracy to dethrone him while glaringly accusing the establishment of pulling the strings. But now, he has made a U-turn and has side-lined all those allegations, only to focus on the appointment of the new army chief, and early elections in the country where he sees his party winning—and rightly so because PTI has secured the majority of seats in the recently held by-elections.
General Bajwa and the entire establishment in Pakistan have been lately wanting to have better relations not only with the US, but India too, but under Khan—when he was in power—it really could not go ahead with what it was intending to because once Khan was shown the exit, things started getting better for Pakistan: it secured IMF bailout package and later it also came out of the FATF grey list. The final word is that the Pakistani military’s rotating guard has always resulted in disturbing the status quo. All eyes are on Pakistan as it gets closer to naming a new military head; India is attentively and keenly observing the developments as the situation there develops. Given that Pakistan’s military leadership has consistently caused trouble for India, the changing situation becomes significant. Keeping an eye is a must.
