RAMBAN, MAY 12: In continuation to the ongoing 100 Day Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, the District Information Centre (DIC) Ramban, in collaboration with the Drug Control Department today organized an awareness programme on drug abuse here at DISHA Institute of Paramedical & Nursing Sciences.

The programme aimed to sensitise students to the harmful effects of drug addiction and promote the vision of a drug-free society.

Drug Control Officer Imtiyaz Ahmed attended the programme as the Chief Guest, while Dental Surgeon Dr. Bhushan attended as the Guest of Honour.

The event witnessed active participation of students. They delivered speeches highlighting the serious social, physical and psychological consequences of drug abuse. An exhibition displaying the posters made by the students was one of the major attractions. Cultural performances and a skit presentation were also organised as part of the awareness programme.

The Drug Control Officer emphasised the importance of awareness, prevention and collective responsibility to combat the drug menace.

Meanwhile, the Institute also celebrated International Nurses Day 2026 promoting the theme “Our Nurses, Our Future. Empowered Nurses Save Lives.” The event featured informative and recreational activities dedicated to the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale.

The Principal of the Institute Hilal Wani appreciated the initiative of the Information Department. He hailed the informative programme and thanked the organizers for engaging students through creative and awareness-oriented activities.

The programme concluded with a renewed commitment by students and faculty members to work collectively towards building a drug-free, healthy and aware society.
