Artisans sensitized about Government schemes at Kishtwar

KISHTWAR, MARCH 13: The Department of Handicrafts Kishtwar today organized an Orientation Program for Artisans here at village Wasser .

The program aimed to educate the artisans about various government schemes and the registration processes for securing Pechan Card.

The session was led by Assistant Director Handicrafts Pardeep Shan, who briefed the artisans about the diverse crafts in Kishtwar. He also discussed a range of beneficial schemes, including the Training Program, Financial Support Scheme, Karkhandar Scheme, Education Scholarship Scheme for Children of Artisans, and the formation of OFPOs (Organized Fabricated Production Organizations) and Clusters. Additionally, Pardeep Shan emphasized the importance of registering artisans for the Pechan Card, ensuring that they can avail themselves of both UT and centrally sponsored schemes.

The event was attended by officials of the Handicrafts Department, including AHTO Pinak Sen; Supervisor INDUSCO Abid, Farooq G and Crewel Embroidery Artisan, Nirmala Devi.

Their participation reflected the collaborative efforts being made to uplift and empower the artisan community in Kishtwar.
