PULWAMA, APRIL 08: In a concerted effort to ensure the safety and security of school-going children, the Assistant Regional Transport Office (ARTO) Pulwama launched an inspection drive across the district, targeting school buses for rigorous checks in line with prescribed safety norms and traffic regulations.

During the drive, the officials inspected more than 300 school buses operated by various educational institutions of the district. Officials thoroughly inspected a range of safety parameters, including the presence of first aid kits, functional fire extinguishers, vehicle fitness certificates, installation of CCTV cameras, valid driving licenses of school buses and any instances of overloading. It was found that almost all the school buses were compliant with the existing rules and regulations in place.

In addition to inspections, the ARTO team conducted awareness sessions for transport staff and drivers, emphasizing the importance of adherence to traffic regulations, maintaining vehicles and prioritizing student safety.

Emphasizing the significance of student welfare, officials underscored the need for strict compliance with all safety protocols by educational institutions operating transport services for ensuring student welfare.
