BHADERWAH, AUGUST 06: The Office of the Tehsil Social Welfare Officer Bhaderwah in collaboration with the Health Department, organised an awareness-cum-medical camp for Senior Citizens here today with the objective of promoting healthy ageing, creating awareness about government welfare initiatives and legal rights and providing free healthcare services to senior citizens.

The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from senior citizens hailing from different parts of the Sub-Division, besides representatives from the Health Department, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Information Department and media.

At the outset, Tehsil Social Welfare Officer Shahnawaz Ahmad welcomed the participants and delivered an informative lecture on the welfare initiatives of the Government for senior citizens. He also sensitised the participants about their rights and entitlements and emphasised the importance of respecting and caring for the elderly.

The resource persons from DLSA highlighted the key provisions of the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007, explaining the rights of senior citizens and the responsibilities of children and family members towards their parents.

A medical team comprising Dr. Sheenam, Dr. Rahat, Dr. Kamaldeep, Dr. Yasir and other healthcare professionals conducted detailed screening of Senior Citizens for blood pressure, blood sugar and general health check-up.

During an interaction session, the senior citizens raised queries related to their welfare and sought guidance on various matters. The Tehsil Social Welfare Officer assured them of all possible assistance and reaffirmed the Department’s commitment to addressing genuine grievances promptly.
