SRINAGAR, AUGUST 04: District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Srinagar, organized a comprehensive legal awareness programme today at Government Boys Higher Secondary School (GBHSS) Hazratbal, Srinagar.
The initiative aimed to sensitize students about critical legal and social issues including the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, drug abuse, bullying, teasing, violence, and the services available through the NALSA Helpline No. 15100.
The event was held under the chairmanship of Tasleem Arief, Principal District and Sessions Judge, Srinagar, and conducted under the supervision of Sajad Ur Rehman, Sub-Judge and Secretary, DLSA Srinagar.
On the occasion, insightful presentations from legal experts addressed the pressing concerns faced by young individuals.
Zeenat Nazir, Deputy Chief Legal Aid Defense Counsel (LADC), DLSA Srinagar, spoke at length about the provisions and significance of the POCSO Act. She also shed light on the growing menace of drug abuse among youth, urging students to stay informed and vigilant.
Suhaila Ali, Panel Lawyer, DLSA Srinagar, addressed the issues of bullying, teasing, and violence in educational institutions. She emphasized the importance of early intervention and encouraged students to seek help through the NALSA Helpline No. 15100, a vital resource for legal aid and support.
The programme concluded with an interactive session where students expressed their concerns and queries, reflecting the impact and relevance of the awareness drive.
DLSA Srinagar reaffirmed its commitment to empowering youth through legal literacy and proactive engagement, ensuring that students are equipped with the knowledge to protect themselves and others.
