SHOPIAN, JUNE 19: As part of the celebrations of the International Day of Yoga 2026, the Department of AYUSH, Shopian today organized a vibrant ‘Run for Yoga’ at Heerpora, Shopian to promote awareness about the importance of yoga, physical fitness and healthy living among the masses.
The event was conducted in collaboration with Government Higher Secondary School Heerpora and Police Station Heerpora, witnessing enthusiastic participation from students, teachers, police personnel and members of the local community.
The run commenced from Government Higher Secondary School Heerpora and saw participants taking part with great zeal and enthusiasm, carrying the message of a healthy, active and drug-free lifestyle.
The initiative aimed to encourage people, particularly the youth, to adopt yoga as a way of life and to recognize its role in maintaining physical, mental and emotional well-being.
Participants carried banners displaying messages on the importance of yoga, fitness and healthy living, spreading awareness among the public about the benefits of adopting yoga as a daily practice.
The event was organized under the supervision of Dr. Bashir Ahmad, Dr. Manzoor Ahmad and Yoga Instructor Waseem Gulzar, who highlighted the significance of yoga in achieving holistic health and creating a healthier society.
