Babar Qadri Murder Case: New evidence have potential to unravel the conspiracy: Police

Srinagar: Police Wednesday said that the searches conducted in connection with the murder of Advocate Babar Qadri new evidences have come which have the potential to unravel the conspiracy part in this killing.

Srinagar Police in a statement said that it conducted searches at four locations, two in Barzulla, one in Brein Nishat and one in Maisuma in houses/offices of three lawyers in connection with the murder of Advocate Babar Qadri.

The senior advocate/advocates whose houses were searched are Mian Qayoom, Mian Muzaffar, and Manzoor Ahmed Dar. All legal formalities were followed in the searches conducted.

Digital devices, bank statements, property sale agreements, suspicious books and other relevant material was seized during the searches.

Babar Qadri was assassinated by gunmen on Sep 24, 2020 at his residence and a case under FIR number 62/2020 was registered in Police Station Lal Bazar under sections 16,18,20,39 of Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, Section 302 of IPC, Sections 7,27 of the Arms Act.

Five persons as per police have been since charge-sheeted in this case and are facing trial. The searches were conducted during further investigation in the case wherein certain new evidences came up that have the potential to unravel the conspiracy part in this killing.

Police said that further investigation, in this case, is in full swing. (KNT)
