BANDIPORA, NOVEMBER 17: A series of awareness and creative programmes were organised across Bandipora district on Monday under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA), as part of the ongoing district-wide campaign to curb substance abuse and promote a healthier, drug-free society.

At HKM Government Degree College Bandipora, the College NCORD Cell and NSS Units conducted a painting competition on the theme “Together for a Drug-Free Kashmir.” The event saw enthusiastic participation from students who expressed their commitment to a drug-free society through impactful artworks portraying the harmful effects of substance abuse. The activity highlighted the vital role of youth in promoting social responsibility and strengthening collective efforts toward a drug-free Kashmir.

Similar activities were held in various schools and colleges across the district. GMS Wanpora, HSS Madwan, HSS Ajas, and PM SHRI HSS Shadipora organised painting competitions, awareness drives, and the NMBA e-pledge, with students reaffirming their commitment to combat addiction and promote conscious, community-led action.

At Government Model Higher Secondary School Sumbal, NMBA activities were carried out under the supervision of the Head of Institution, Dr. Ehtishamul Haq, which witnessed vibrant participation from 157 students in essay and painting competitions on drug abuse and its prevention. Staff and students also took the NMBA e-pledge, which was prominently displayed on the school notice board to enhance public awareness. Meanwhile, HSS Gadakhud conducted essay and painting competitions as part of the NMBA schedule.

The district-wide programmes collectively reinforced the message of a drug-free society and demonstrated the proactive involvement of colleges, schools, students, and staff in advancing the objectives of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. The events reflected the shared resolve of Bandipora’s educational institutions to support youth empowerment, strengthen community awareness, and intensify the fight against substance abuse.
