BARAMULLA, JUNE 02: In a spirited effort to promote a drug-free society, the District Administration Baramulla today organized a large-scale multi-sports awareness drive under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.

The event held on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, was jointly coordinated by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) and the Social Welfare Department.

The day began with a Mini Marathon from Kanispora to Government Degree College (GDC) Boys Khawaja Bagh, witnessing enthusiastic participation of students from both government and private schools across the district.

In the afternoon, a series of team sports including Volleyball, Kho-Kho, and Kabaddi were held at High School Dewanbagh. The events were inaugurated by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Baramulla, Syed Altaf Hussain Musavi, in the presence of officers from the participating departments. The sports activities reflected the vibrant spirit of the youth while reinforcing the message of a drug-free lifestyle.

Speaking on the occasion, ADC appreciated the joint efforts of the departments and the enthusiastic participation of students. He said, “Such activities are not only important for physical well-being but also for building a collective resolve to stay away from drugs. It is encouraging to see the youth taking the lead in spreading awareness.”

The winners of the mini marathon were felicitated with certificates of appreciation.
The initiative is part of a broader strategy by District Baramulla to combat drug abuse through awareness, engagement, and community participation.
