Beekeepers felicitated at concluding ceremony of 7-day training program

JAMMU, JANUARY 27: Directorate of Agriculture Production and Farmers Welfare Jammu today felicitated 50 aspiring Beekeepers drawn from Jammu and Samba Districts.

They were felicitated at the concluding ceremony of the seven-day training program on Scientific Beekeeping organized for them at Baba Jitto Kisan Kendra by the Apiculture Development Scheme, Directorate of Agriculture Production and Farmers Welfare Jammu, under the National Beekeeping and Honey Mission (NBHM).

Director Agriculture Jammu, S. Arvinder Singh Reen, presided over the ceremony and felicitated the beekeepers, presenting them with Tool Kits, literature, bee flora saplings, and certificates of participation.

Earlier, the participants visited the Apiculture Demonstration cum Training Centre in Chimney Chak, Jammu, where they received practical, hands-on training in bee hive operations and colony management.

The Director assured the beekeepers that the department would soon organize training and exposure programs outside the UT, in response to their demand for advanced learning opportunities. He further announced the establishment of a laboratory and honey processing unit in the public sector, which would significantly benefit the beekeeping industry in the Jammu region.

The session also included an interactive feedback session led by Assistant Entomologist Rajesh Verma, where participants expressed satisfaction with the quality and relevance of the training. The beekeepers commended the comprehensive lectures and practical insights they had received throughout the program.

The concluding ceremony was also attended by Deputy Director Trainings (J) Alok Pandotra, Agronomist (VIS) Vikas Padha, Divisional Seed Certification Officer Prem Singh, Chairman JKDCF & UAMMCL Vikrant Dogra, Assistant Soil Survey Officer Dr. Adil Rashid, SMS S. Om Singh and SMS Deepak Singh. The officers and staff of the Apiculture Development Scheme, Directorate of Agriculture Jammu, successfully conducted the proceedings of the program.
