Campaign to clear legacy waste kicked-off in Budgam

BUDGAM, MARCH 04: The District Administration Budgam in collaboration with Rural Development department Budgam initiated a special campaign to clear the legacy waste across the district and also launched a special cleanliness drive from block Budgam.

The drive was flagged off by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Budgam, Mehraj-ud-din Shah from panchayat halqa Razwen.

Speaking to the gathering, ADC said that district administration Budgam is carrying out the drive with a missionary zeal to make the district neat and clean.

He discussed modalities for implementation of ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ campaign in the district to mobilize communities to make the district clean, junk free, with 100% toilets to each and every household.

He said, compost and soakage pits, segregation sheds, separate dustbins, no polythene zone is the aim of administration so that there is healthy society. He urged the public to make use of these facilities provided by the government so that there is clean and green Budgam.

Shah highlighted the aim of the campaign and said that it is meant to sensitise the public and bring behavioural change in them with regard to the sanitation and cleanliness. He also said that such events will be organized at other places across the district also.

Others who were present during the programme were ACP Budgam, BDO, Panchayat Secretary concerned, locals of the area, besides other district, tehsil and block level officials.
