KISHTWAR, OCTOBER 29: On the directions of the Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Kumar Sharma and the Director Handloom and Handicrafts Jammu, a Capacity Building Program on Art and Craft was organized today at DIET Kishtwar by the Department of Handicrafts and Handloom.

The Assistant Director, Handloom and Handicrafts Pradeep Shan hailed the rich art, craft and handmade heritage of Kishtwar. He emphasized the importance of preserving the local traditional crafts that reflect the cultural identity of the region.

The AD apprised the participants about various departmental schemes and Centrally Sponsored Programs, including the National Handloom and Handicrafts Development Programme (NHDP).

He also briefed the trainees on the registration process with the department, enabling them to avail the benefits of various Artisan and Weaver Welfare Schemes.

A major highlight of the event was the exhibition of local handloom and handicraft products, featuring wheat straw craft, crochet, sozni, crewel, staple, carpet weaving, cutting, tailoring, woolen blankets, etc by local artisans and weavers.

The exhibition beautifully represented the rich handmade heritage of Kishtwar, and several products were successfully sold during the event.

The program was attended by the Principal DIET Tirath Lal, senior lecturers, teachers, AHTOs, instructors and staff members of the Handloom and Handicrafts Department.
