REASI, FEBRUARY 17: Chairman District Development Council (DDC) Reasi, Saraf Singh Nag today chaired a comprehensive review meeting to assess the physical and financial progress achieved under the District Capex Plan 2025–26.

The meeting focused on sector-wise priorities and the effective utilisation of capital expenditure funds to ensure sustainable and inclusive development across the district. Emphasis was laid on strengthening core infrastructure, enhancing public amenities and expediting developmental works in both rural and urban areas.

Chief Planning Officer, Narinder Kumar briefed the chair on the progress achieved, including financial expenditure, physical status of works, the tendering process and block-wise new projects proposed under the Capex Plan. Officers from various line departments presented detailed updates on key sectors such as roads, water supply, health, education, power and rural development. Discussions were held to align the Capex Plan with public aspirations and government development objectives.

During the deliberations, the DDC Members raised concerns regarding the repair of canals, installation of solar lights, repair and upgradation of the Devi Pindi track to facilitate the smooth movement of devotees, construction of stadiums in Pouni and Ransoo areas and the release of pending compensation under PMGSY. The concerned departments informed the Council that the works would be taken up upon receipt of the required funds.

DDC Member, Aijaz Ahmad Khan called for the early commencement of the proposed wind power project in the district to harness renewable energy potential and promote sustainable development. He also highlighted the issue regarding the installation of electric poles in areas where smart meters have already been installed and urged the authorities to resolve the matter at the earliest to avoid inconvenience to residents.

Addressing the meeting, the DDC Chairman stressed the importance of transparency, adherence to timelines and convergence of various schemes to maximise developmental impact. He directed all departments to ensure that projects under the Capex Plan are need-based, outcome-oriented and completed within stipulated timelines. He further emphasised focused attention on far-flung and underserved areas to ensure balanced and equitable development. Regular monitoring and inter-departmental coordination were also underscored for the smooth implementation of approved works.

Later, the DDC Chairman and all DDC Members expressed gratitude to the district administration Reasi for its continued support, effective coordination and dedicated efforts towards the overall development of the district during the five-year tenure of the Council.

Among others, Member of Legislative Assembly Katra Baldev Raj Sharma, Vice Chairperson Sajra Qader, CEO District Development Council, ADDC Sukhdev Singh Samyal, PO POSHAN Sudershan Kumar, CEO, ACD Reasi, BDOs and senior officers were present in the meeting.
