REASI, DECEMBER 22: Chairman District Legal Services Authority Reasi (also Pr. District and Sessions Judge), Khalil Ahmed Choudhary today chaired a meeting to review the performance of PLVs and assess field level legal aid activities.
Secretary DLSA, Pooja Gupta, Chairman TLSC Katra and TLSC Mahore also attended the meeting.
The meeting commenced with introductory remarks by the Secretary.
The meeting was convened to review the performance of PLVs, assess field level legal aid activities and strengthen coordination among PLVs, TLSCs and DLSA.
The Chairman highlighted the pivotal role of PLVs in extending legal aid services to the people at the grassroots level. He said the PLVs act as a bridge between the Legal Services Institutions and the common people, particularly the marginalized and vulnerable sections of the society.
Directions were given to PLVs to actively participate in Legal Awareness programs, Lok Adalats etc. Chairman of TLSC Katra and Mahore were also directed to closely monitor the work of PLVs and provide periodic feedback to the DLSA.
Meanwhile, the DLSA hosted an awareness program on the POSH Act here at Government Degree College Reasi. LADCs, Bhumika Rajput and Rishav Sharma were the resource persons.
The objective of the program was to educate the women about the legal protection against sexual harassment at work places and encourage them to exercise their fundamental rights to equality, life and dignity of work.
In addition to this, an awareness program on Fundamental Rights and Duties was also organized for Para Legal Volunteers at District Court Complex. Assistant LADCs, Niharika and Dheeraj Singh Thakur were the resource persons. The program was aimed at enhancing the knowledge and capacity of PLVs regarding the constitutional framework, enabling them to effectively disseminate legal awareness at grassroots level.
