Chairman DLSA Srinagar reviews functioning of LADCs

SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 17: District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Srinagar, under the aegis of the Jammu & Kashmir Legal Services Authority, organized a review meeting in the office chamber of the Principal District and Sessions Judge/Chairman, DLSA Srinagar, at the District Court Complex, Srinagar.

The meeting was chaired by, Principal District and Sessions Judge/Chairman, DLSA Srinagar, Tasleem Arief and held under the supervision of Sub-Judge/Secretary, DLSA Srinagar, Sajad-ur-Rehman.

The meeting was convened to review the functioning and performance of the Legal Aid Defence Counsels (LADCs) and to ensure effective delivery of legal aid services to undertrial prisoners and other eligible beneficiaries.

During the meeting, discussions were held on various aspects concerning the timely representation of legal aid cases, coordination between LADCs and the DLSA office, and measures to strengthen the quality and accountability of legal aid services.

The Chair emphasized the importance of professionalism, diligence, and empathy in dealing with legal aid beneficiaries, reiterating that access to justice is a fundamental right that must be upheld in both spirit and practice.

The meeting concluded with directions for improved monitoring, periodic case reviews, and continued collaboration among all stakeholders to ensure that no person in need of legal assistance is left unrepresented.
