BARAMULLA, SEPTEMBER 30: Chairperson, District Development Council (DDC) Baramulla, Safina Baig, accompanied by Member Legislative Assembly (MLA) Wagoora–Kreeri, Irfan Hafiz Lone today visited Kohlin, Wagoora and inaugurated the newly constructed elementary school building at Government Middle School (GMS) Kohlin. The project, executed by the R&B Division Baramulla, has been completed under the SAMGRA scheme at an approved cost of ₹45.77 lakh.
On the occasion, Safina Baig said that under the different schemes including District Capex Budget, we have spent nearly ₹160 crore on different developmental projects/Works aimed at improving infrastructure, especially in the sectors of education and connectivity, in Wagoora block during the LG Administration. She said education continues to remain our foremost priority. With this new school building, we aim to provide children with a conducive learning environment and fulfill a long-pending demand of the local population.
Referring to the issue of drinking water, Safina Baig acknowledged the public concern and assured that the matter will be taken up with the District Development Commissioner for an early redressal. She further said that most of the schemes and developmental works in the area have already been completed, while several others are at the final stages of completion.
She emphasized that the council will continue to prioritize initiatives that directly benefit the people and improve their quality of life, particularly in sectors like education, connectivity, and basic amenities.
The newly inaugurated facility is expected to significantly benefit students of Kohlin and adjoining villages by creating better learning conditions and supporting the overall academic environment.
