UDHAMPUR, SEPTEMBER 30: The Central Integrated Pest Management Centre, Jammu, today organized a two-day Human Resource Development Programme on Integrated Pest Management at Village Mand East.
The programme was aimed at sensitizing farmers about eco-friendly pest management practices, promoting the safe use of pesticides and encouraging sustainable agricultural practices in the region. The inaugural session witnessed enthusiastic participation from DDC Vice Chairperson Udhampur, Juhi Manhas Pathania, along with Arti Sharma, Balwan Singh and local farmers.
Deputy Director (PP) Dr. M K Arya delivered a comprehensive presentation highlighting the importance of Integrated Pest Management in minimizing crop losses, reducing dependence on chemical pesticides and ensuring food and environmental safety. He emphasized the judicious use of pesticides and advocated for adopting IPM as a holistic approach to achieve healthier crops and higher productivity.
APPO (E) Ravi Kumar Chappare demonstrated the National Pest Surveillance System mobile app, enabling farmers to access real-time pest surveillance data and advisories.
Farmers actively participated in interactive sessions, raising queries regarding pest-related challenges and appreciating the practical knowledge shared by the experts. They lauded CIPMC Jammu for organizing such a meaningful programme at the grassroots level.
