BUDGAM, AUGUST 08: The district-level teachers’ capacity building programme under ‘Classes of Joy–Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) Approach’ continued successfully for the second consecutive day at training centres across Budgam, Soibug, Narbal and Khansahib.

Organised by the District Administration Budgam in collaboration with the Pratham Education Foundation and the School Education Department, the initiative aims to address learning gaps among children and strengthen foundational literacy and numeracy skills.

The programme is being conducted for around 4,500 teachers from all 859 primary and middle schools across the district. The second-day sessions featured interactive activities, practical demonstrations, group exercises and peer-learning techniques to enhance classroom teaching practices.

Teachers were oriented on the TaRL and Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) approaches, with emphasis on assessing children’s learning levels and adopting appropriate, child-centred teaching strategies.

The sessions also highlighted the importance of creating joyful, inclusive and engaging classrooms where children participate actively and develop strong foundational skills.

The initiative reflects the District Administration’s commitment to improving the quality of school education through sustained teacher capacity building, innovative teaching practices and collaborative interventions.

Pertinently, the training programme was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Athar Aamir Khan, at Sheikh-ul-Alam Hall, Budgam, on August 07, marking the commencement of the district-level capacity building programme.
