JAMMU, JUNE 25: In continuation of the Clean Jammu, Green Jammu campaign, a plantation drive was organized today by the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) in collaboration with the Urban Forestry Division Jammu near the pond at Ward No. 51, Channi Himmat.

The event was graced by Mr. Hitesh Gupta, Under Secretary to the Government, Jal Shakti Department, who attended as the chief guest. Mr. Gupta inaugurated the program by planting a sapling and emphasized the collective responsibility of citizens in preserving the environment. He also personally adopted two saplings, setting an example for the community.

A large number of local residents from Ward No. 51 actively participated in the drive, displaying great enthusiasm and commitment towards environmental conservation. Various species of saplings including Peepal, Mango and Neem were planted around the pond to enhance greenery and support biodiversity.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Gupta said, “To combat environmental challenges, it is essential to plant more trees. A clean and green environment is possible only when every citizen participates and takes ownership by planting and nurturing trees.”

Also present at the event were Mr. Ashwani Kumar Mittal, Divisional Forest Officer, Jammu, Dr. Divya Sharma, IEC Incharge, Ms. Rabia Khan, Assistant Floriculture Officer, JMC and officers from the Jammu Municipal Corporation and the Urban Forestry Division Jammu.

This initiative marks another step toward creating a sustainable and eco-friendly Jammu, encouraging citizens to play an active role in preserving nature.
