Anantnag: A Police Constable died of gunshot injuries at Hiller area of Kokernag in Anantnag district on Wednesday, officials said.
An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that a police constable identified as Umer Farooq of Poonch from 18th battalion IRP posted in Anantnag had received gunshot injuries in Hiller area.
He said that Umer was shifted to SDH Achabal where he succumbed to his injuries.
A doctor from SDH Achabal confirmed to KNO that Umer succumbed to injuries during treatment.
Meanwhile, police have taken cognizance and started an investigation in this regard to ascertain whether it is a case of suicide or something else—(KNO)
