Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Union territory on Wednesday reported four deaths and biggest ever spike of 5,818 cases, highest ever since the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic, pushing the number of active cases to 26,236.
Notably, it is highest ever spike in cases since outbreak of pandemic as last highest ever pandemic was on 07 May last year when 5,443 were reported.
With four more deaths, the death toll in J&K has reached 4,579 and 5,818 fresh positive cases reported on Wednesday have pushed the tally of positive cases to 372,669.
Of the exact number of 372,669 cases, 234,155 are from Kashmir division and 138,514 from Jammu division.
Officials said that among 5,818 new cases, 4,066 belong to Kashmir division while as 1,752 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 234,155 including 214,908 recoveries and 2,347 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 138,514 including 126,946 recoveries and 2,232 deaths.
The officials said that the total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 26,236 including 16,900 from Kashmir division and 9,336 from Jammu division.
With 1,255 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 341,854 which is 91.73 percent of the total cases.
“Cases tested positive in J&K include 1,745 from Srinagar, 791 from Baramulla, 594 from Budgam, 230 from Pulwama, 93 from Kupwara, 217 from Anantnag, 130 from Bandipora, 84 from Ganderbal, 162 from Kulgam and 20 Shopian in Kashmir division while as 1,752 from Jammu division include 1,131 from Jammu division, 105 from Udhampur, 85 from Rajouri, 63 from Doda, 100 from Kathua, 89 from Samba, 05 from Kishtwar, 66 from Poonch, 53 from Ramban and 55 from Reasi,” officials disclosed.
Meanwhile, authorities said that no fresh cases of Mucormycosis popularly known as black fungus was reported in the UT and the tally stands at 51.
As per officials figures, 85,715 positive cases including 887 deaths and 78,639 recoveries are from Srinagar, 30,051 including 292 deaths and 25,903 recoveries are from Baramulla, 27,327 including 24,848 recoveries and 222 deaths are from Budgam, 16,420 including 15,648 recoveries and 195 deaths are from Pulwama, 16,001 including 170 deaths and 15,080 recoveries are from Kupwara, 18,074 including 16,563 recoveries and 211 deaths are from Anantnag, 11,030 cases including 10,165 and 111 deaths are from Bandipora, 11,430 including 10,981 recoveries and 82 deaths are from Ganderbal, 12,409 including 11,520 recoveries and 118 deaths are from Kulgam and 5,698 including 5,561 recoveries and 59 deaths are from Shopian.
In Jammu division, 61,330 including 54,395 recoveries and 1,175 deaths are from Jammu district, 12,579 including 11,546 recoveries and 143 deaths are from Udhampur, 11,876 including 11,233 recoveries and 241 deaths are from Rajouri, 8,365 including 7,971 recoveries and 138 deaths are from Doda, 10,231 including 9,518 recoveries and 156 deaths are from Kathua, 7,800 including 7,173 recoveries and 120 deaths are from Samba, 5,015 including 4,871 recoveries and 44 deaths are from Kishtwar, 7,066 including 6,615 recoveries and 103 deaths are from Poonch, 6,283 including 6,087 recoveries and 68 deaths are from Ramban and 7,969 including 7,537 recoveries and 44 deaths are from Reasi.
As per the daily information bulletin 5,567,471 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 7,599 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 26,236 persons are in isolation.
According to the bulletin, 5,098,676 persons have completed the surveillance period and 430,381 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 20,518,023 samples are available. Out of 20,518,023 the number of samples tested negative stands at 20,145,354 while as 372,669 have tested positive, among them 26,236 persons are active, 341,854 persons have recovered and 4,579 persons have died.
