Pulwama: Dangling electric wires tied with trees, worn out wooden poles are posing grave threat to the lives of people as well as to their property in Paribal area of Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

The residents of the area alleged that they are living under constant fear due to low lying electric wires tied with trees in their village and the electric wires have been tied with trees and decaying electric poles.

They said that the electric lines touch roofs of houses and trees on roads posing risk to life and property.

Every day electric lines in the area are falling down and we have to contact PDD employees on daily basis to rectify it, they said.

“We have been requesting the concerned department to replace the dangling and damaged electric wires and poles but our pleas fall on deaf ears,” said Mukhtiyar Ahmad, a local resident.

He said that in previous back to village programmes we demanded replacement of electric poles and wires in the area but so far nothing has been done on ground.

“All low tension wires in our village have been tied with trees in absence of poles due to which the wires are lying very low and the they are very weak which often get damaged,” said Irfan Khan, another local resident.

He added that they have taken up the issue with the administration several times but on nothing has been done to redress the grievance.

“The electric transformer installed in our area is also unable to cater to the whole area and there is need of installing one more transformer in the area, they added.

Locals also requested higher ups to look into the matter and provide them with new electric wire and poles.
