Dr. Vaneet Kaur, daughter of S. Sewinder Singh Parwanda, is a woman of multiple talents. She is a President of India Gold Medal Awardee, Government of India Research Fellow, one of the youngest Ph.D.s of the region, an educator, an author, and a researcher, who is fondly referred to as the woman of letters from Jammu. Dr. Kaur, Professor of Management in the Ambassador Crawford College of Business and Entrepreneurship, Kent State University, took the center stage as she represented India on the global platform on the occasion of International Women’s Day in Ohio, USA.
Speaking at the occasion, Dr. Kaur sang praises of Indian Government and explained how under the leadership of honorable Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi Ji, India has shifted from women development to women-led development. The mid-western American venue reverberated with applause as she elucidated how initiatives like “Beti Bachao, Beti Padao” are re-writing the story of women in India and how India’s 75th Republic Day celebrations represented a resounding declaration of women empowerment with all-women tri-service contingents leading the march past and women pilots enthralling the fly past. Narrating the story of new India under the aegis of PM Modi, Dr. Kaur explained how India is now known by the strength and prowess of “Nari Shakti”.
Dr. Kaur also apprised the American audience about role models hailing from India such as Kalpana Chawla and Sudha Murthy who have shattered glass ceilings, broken societal stereotypes, and inspired women to pursue their dreams. She swelled with pride sharing the stories of such superwomen from motherland and congratulated Mrs. Murthy on her appointment to the Parliament.
Invoking patriotism and inspiration in the Indian diaspora, Dr. Kaur exhorted them to join her in fluttering the flag of India high and ensured that the ripple effects of the greatness of Indian Ethos is felt and cherished oceans away.
