DC Bandipora presides over DLC under PMMSY; Fisheries units approved through Draw of Lots

BANDIPORA, FEBRUARY 07: District Level Steering Committee (DLC) under Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) today conducted a draw of lots under the chairpersonship of Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Indu Kanwal Chib, for approval of various fisheries units for the year 2025–26 aimed at strengthening livelihood opportunities in the fisheries sector.

During the proceedings, 05 Net and Boat units were approved through draw of lots out of 69 eligible fishermen groups. A total of 109 applications had been received for the component, of which 69 were found feasible after scrutiny by the departmental committee.

Similarly, 07 Three-Wheelers with Ice Box units were approved out of 60 eligible applicants, while 71 applications had been received initially.

The Committee also approved two Fish Kiosks out of three eligible applicants from among nine applications received, besides finalizing one Live Fish Vending Centre through draw of lots among three eligible applicants, with six applications having been received for the category.

All eligible cases were scrutinized by the departmental committee and subsequently placed before the District Level Steering Committee for final approval through a transparent draw of lots process.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted that PMMSY is aimed at promoting sustainable growth of the fisheries sector by strengthening infrastructure, improving marketing avenues, and enhancing income generation opportunities for fishermen.

On the occasion, the DC emphasized that transparent selection ensures equal opportunity and urged the beneficiaries to make optimum use of the assistance provided under the scheme.

Officers from concerned departments, members of the committee, progressive fish farmers, applicants, and other stakeholders were present on the occasion.
