BANDIPORA, AUGUST 06: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Indu Kanwal Chib, along with Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Bandipora, Ajaz Ahmad Zargar, on Thursday chaired a meeting to review and finalise arrangements for the smooth celebration of Independence Day 2026 across the district.
During the meeting, the DC reviewed the preparations for the main function, which will be held at Government Higher Secondary School Nadihal this year in view of the ongoing works at S.K. Stadium Bandipora. She also reviewed the arrangements being made for celebrations at the sub-divisional, tehsil and block levels.
The meeting reviewed preparations related to security, traffic management, venue arrangements, seating, power and water supply, sanitation, healthcare, fire and emergency services, transport, parking, cultural programmes and other facilities for the public.
During the meeting, the DC directed the concerned officers to conduct an advance spot visit of the venue to assess the arrangements on the ground, identify any gaps, and ensure that all necessary preparations are put in place well before the event.
She also directed all departments to complete their assigned responsibilities well in advance and ensure close coordination for the smooth conduct of the celebrations. She stressed that every department should work in sync to ensure that all arrangements are put in place without any lapse.
The DC, emphasised the need for foolproof security and directed the Police and other security agencies to prepare a comprehensive security and traffic management plan to ensure smooth movement of the public and vehicles.
On the occasion, the DC directed the Health Department to deploy medical teams along with ambulances and emergency medicines at the venue. The Executive Engineers of PDD and Jal Shakti (PHE) were directed to ensure uninterrupted power supply and adequate drinking water facilities. She also directed the Municipal Council and other concerned departments to maintain proper sanitation and cleanliness, while the Fire and Emergency Services Department was asked to keep adequate firefighting arrangements in place.
The DC directed the Chief Education Officer to coordinate cultural and patriotic programmes for the main function. She also directed the Youth Services and Sports Department to make all necessary arrangements for the smooth conduct of the celebrations.
She further directed all Heads of Departments and field officers to ensure proper flag-hoisting arrangements at their respective offices and illuminate government buildings in accordance with the prescribed protocol to create a festive and patriotic atmosphere across the district.
The DC instructed all departments to strictly follow the Flag Code of India during flag-hoisting ceremonies and asked field offices to share their flag-hoisting plans with the District Administration well in advance for better coordination.
The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner, Nazir Ahmad Mir; Additional Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Zaffar Husson Shawl; PO ICDS Bandipora; Assistant Commissioner Revenue; Assistant Commissioner Panchayats; Sub-Divisional Magistrates; officers from the Police, Army, CRPF and BSF; Chief Planning Officer; Chief Education Officer; Executive Engineers of various departments; Assistant Regional Transport Officer; District Youth Services and Sports Officer; District Information Officer; Chief Executive Officer, Municipal Council; Block Development Officers; Tehsildars; and other concerned officers.
