BANDIPORA, SEPTEMBER 25: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Indu Kanwal Chib, on Thursday reviewed the preparations for the second edition of the Wular Marathon 2025, scheduled to be held on October 12.
During the meeting, DIG BSF Brig N. Rose Babu gave a detailed presentation on the strategic framework for security arrangements, route management, and inter-agency coordination.
It was informed that the marathon, being organized under the theme ‘Save Wular, Run with Bordermen’, will comprise three formats viz. 5 km, 10 km and 21.1 km.
The Half Marathon (21.1 km) will start from the Helipad BSF Campus Bandipora and culminate at Wular Vintage Park, while the 5 km and 10 km categories will have Wular Vintage Park as both the starting and finishing point. It was further given out that the event is open to both males and females aged 14 years and above, and registration will be free of cost for all participants.
The deliberations covered a wide range of issues. BSF assured foolproof security measures with dedicated arrangements for route safety, crowd management, and emergency response. Mobile medical units and first-aid facilities will also be positioned at critical points along the marathon track to ensure round-the-clock medical support.
On the occasion, DC directed all concerned departments to work in close coordination and ensure comprehensive arrangements, particularly with regard to medical facilities, security, infrastructure, and public convenience, so that the event is conducted smoothly and successfully.
The meeting was attended by, DIG BSF, Brig N. Rose Babu, ADC Bandipora Zaffar Husson Shawl along with senior officers from the civil administration, security forces, health, education, tourism, and other allied departments.
