BARAMULLA, JANUARY 21: In a significant step to promote environmental cleanliness ahead of Republic Day, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Minga Sherpa today launched the ‘Clean River Jhelum Campaign.’

The campaign, running from January 21 to January 25, 2025, aims to clean the River Jhelum and raise awareness about environmental conservation.

Organized by the Housing and Urban Development Department Kashmir, with active participation from the Municipal Council (MC) Baramulla, the initiative will focus on cleaning the riverbanks, collecting waste, and educating the public on the importance of preserving natural resources.

“The River Jhelum is a vital part of our heritage, and this campaign highlights our collective responsibility to protect and preserve it for future generations,” stated DC during the launch. The campaign is designed to inspire the local community to take action in maintaining a cleaner and greener environment.

The campaign was launched in the presence of Additional Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Dr. Zahoor Ahmad Raina; Chief Executive Officer Municipal Council Baramulla, Naveed Ajaz, and other officers and officials.

This initiative aligns with the ongoing efforts of the Housing and Urban Development Department Kashmir to improve urban cleanliness and foster sustainable development practices in the region.
