BUDGAM, APRIL 29: National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Srinagar today commenced its Annual Sports & Cultural Festival “Spectrum 2026” at its Ompora Campus in Budgam, with the Deputy Commissioner Budgam Athar Aamir Khan inaugurating the three-day cultural-cum-sports festival as Chief Guest.
The inauguration ceremony was held in the presence of Hariprasad K. K., SSP Budgam, as Guest of Honour, and Director NIFT Srinagar, Dr. Monika Gupta.
The festival, themed “Vismay – The Escape of Imagination,” reflects a celebration of creativity, innovation, and holistic development, bringing together students from various schools and colleges across Kashmir on a common platform of cultural expression and sporting excellence.
On the occasion, the DC formally inaugurated the festival proceedings and flagged off a series of sports, cultural, and literary activities.
He also took a round of the campus, visited various event venues, and interacted with participating students, appreciating their enthusiasm, creativity, and active engagement.
Addressing the gathering, the DC underscored the importance of extracurricular activities in nurturing well-rounded individuals and fostering qualities such as teamwork, discipline, and leadership.
Highlighting the festival theme, he stated that “Vismay – The Escape of Imagination” captures the essence of youthful innovation and encourages students to think beyond conventional boundaries and explore their creative potential.
He commended NIFT Srinagar for organizing Spectrum 2026 and providing a vibrant platform for youth engagement, inter-institutional collaboration, and cultural exchange. He further appreciated the institute’s sustained efforts towards promoting inclusivity, creativity, and cultural integration in the region.
The festival has witnessed wide participation from educational institutions across Kashmir and features a diverse range of competitions and performances, including sports events, cultural showcases, and literary activities aimed at promoting talent and strengthening social cohesion among youth.
Earlier, Director NIFT Srinagar, welcomed the dignitaries and highlighted the significance of such initiatives in fostering creativity, discipline, and unity among students. She reiterated the institute’s commitment to encouraging innovation and providing holistic learning experiences.
