BUDGAM, AUGUST 09: A parent-teacher meeting was today held at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Nagam, Chadoora, under the flagship initiative of School Education department Kashmir, with a focus on strengthening the collaboration between home and school for the overall welfare and growth of students.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-ud-Din Bhat, presided over the event as the chief guest. In his address, he emphasized that the well-rounded development of children requires consistent and coordinated efforts from both teachers and parents.
He said that the responsibility of the administration is not just to educate children academically, but to nurture their moral character, life skills, and resilience so they can meet the challenges of the future.
Dr Bilal underscored that parents must maintain active communication with teachers, take interest in their child’s learning, and extend guidance beyond school hours. He said that a child’s success is the result of teamwork between school and home.
DC said that every child deserves the combined mentorship, care, and discipline of both teachers and parents.
Expressing concern over the rise in substance abuse among youth, DC called upon parents to remain alert and informed. He said parents must closely monitor their wards’ activities, peer groups, and online engagements.
He said that early awareness, open communication, and timely intervention are crucial in shielding our children from drugs. He also urged for collective responsibility to safeguard the future generation.
DC highlighted the need to promote cultural, literary, and sports activities alongside academics, noting that such exposure builds confidence, leadership qualities, and a sense of identity in students.
He said that a balanced education is one that cultivates intellect, creativity, and moral values in a person.
The event featured an impressive cultural programme with performances by students from various schools of the block, including a poetic song, traditional Kashmiri Rouf, a drama, and other artistic presentations that reflected the rich heritage of the region.
