KATHUA, JULY 23: Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Dr. Rakesh Minhas convened a meeting with district officers to discuss arrangements for the upcoming Independence Day 2024 celebrations in the district.

The mega event will take place at the Sports Stadium in Kathua, where the VIP will hoist the National Flag and inspect the parade. The parade will feature march-past contingents from the Police, Army, Para Military forces, Forest Department, NCC and platoons from local schools and colleges, as well as bands from PTS and the Army.
Dr. Minhas instructed the concerned officers to ensure the renovation of the venue and arrange necessary logistics to guarantee a smooth and successful event at the district headquarters.

The meeting involved detailed discussions on the sequence of events. It was decided that the day will commence with the playing of Shehnai Vadan by teams from the Information Department at the offices of the Deputy Commissioner and SSP Kathua.

The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the need for comprehensive arrangements covering security, sanitation, seating, barricading, drinking water supply, uninterrupted electricity, prize distribution, invitation cards, transportation, and the illumination of significant buildings for the occasion.

Regarding cultural programs, Dr. Minhas tasked the Chief Education Officer Kathua to select the best performances by school and college students to showcase India’s rich cultural diversity.

The DC also stressed the importance of cleanliness, the illumination of government offices, plantation drives, and flag hoisting in all government establishments to celebrate the day with appropriate honor and enthusiasm.

Dr. Minhas urged all officers to complete preparations well in advance to ensure that the national event is celebrated with traditional fervor and dignity.

Among those present at the meeting were SSP Kathua Anayat Ali Chaudhary, ADDC Surinder Mohan, ADC Ranjit Singh and various district officers from different departments.
