DODA, JULY 23: On the directions and supervision of DSWO Doda Mission Shakti SANKALP: Hub for Empowerment of Women Doda Social Welfare Department organized a Legal Awareness programme on legal rights, child protection, Dowry Prohibition Act 1961 and the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act 2005 and other important acts and women rights in collaboration with District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Doda at Girls High school Bun Doda.

The main aim of the legal awareness programme was to educate students, particularly female students, about their legal rights and remedies in cases of any harassment and domestic violence.

The programme was spearheaded by Advocate Prianka Manhas representative of DLSA who graced the occasion and shared her views on a wide range of topics related to children in conflict with law; juvenile justice law; legal proceedings; child rights and responsibilities; delinquency; bullying; cyber crimes ,legal provisions regarding women’s rights, and discussed the legal procedures for reporting and seeking redressal for any violations or offences under the acts.etc with emphasis on their prevention and reporting.

The programme was a part of on-going 100 days special awareness cum enrolment drive for Mission Shakti.
Aim of the program was to promote legal literacy and empower women to assert their legal rights. Raising awareness about the Dowry Protection Act and Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act is crucial in preventing and addressing incidents of dowry harassment and domestic violence, which continue to affect many women in our society and thus becoming the cause of their distress.

The event was attended by a huge number of students who were very keen to learn about these Acts/Laws.
DHEW team threw light on juvenile justice, taking into account the present challenges that children have to face in their day to day schedules, whether in school or at home or at market places. They apprised them about the legal procedures that have to be followed in case of any abuse or misconduct with any child. The staff provided a brief yet impactful demonstration on the concept of good touch and bad touch , encouraging students to be vigilant and conscious of inappropriate behaviour. The students were encouraged to speak up and not allow others to make them feel uncomfortable.

The DHEW team advised the children that in addition to avoiding any action against the law, children should carry this message to their homes, friends and families that we need to report about any unlawful activity that might be happening around us, to stop their spread in the society. They were given a brief description about how to report incidents and seek help , ensuring that the students felt safe and informed.

The interactive session concluded with a lively question and answer segment, where students posed their doubts and queries. The responses from the experts helped clarify many aspects of legal rights and protection, leaving the students more knowledgeable and confident about seeking help when needed.
