KISHTWAR, MAY 19: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Rajesh Kumar Shavan today reviewed the progress made in meeting the District Good Governance Index (DGGI) indicators till March 2025.

The meeting assessed the impact of the governance interventions across all sectors based on the predefined parameters of the DGGI.

The DC conducted a comprehensive review covering sector-specific performance in Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Horticulture, Employment, Education, Health, Rural Development, Public Infrastructure, Jal Shakti, Banks and other departments.

The DC asked the departments to focus on improving their performance and issued a string of directions. He asked for increasing poultry production through counseling and support, expanding KCC coverage, enhancing food grain production, boosting the growth of major horticulture produce, promoting crop insurance, and supporting MSME units, among others.

The DC further directed efforts to improve gender parity and retention rates of students at the secondary school level, with the support of Village Level Committee members and the Education Department, through the organization of awareness camps across all villages in the district.

Additionally, he instructed the RDD, Revenue, and other concerned departments to identify land for the construction of Anganwadi Centers, aiming to shift them from private accommodations to government-owned buildings on a large scale.

He further urged officers to analyze past indices to identify gaps and formulate strategies to bridge them, in order to achieve the desired outcomes.

The meeting was attended by CEO KDA/ACD Kaiser Bhawani, DSEO Akhil Thakur, EO MC Mirza Mumtaz Iqbal, AD Handicrafts Pardeep Shan, CMO Dr. Rajinder Kumar, CHO Sajid Mustafa, DSHO, Dy. CEO, Executive Engineer PMGSY and other sectoral officers.
