DC Kulgam chairs monthly NCORD meeting

KULGAM, JUNE 12: A meeting of the District Level Committee under the Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) was convened today at Kulgam to discuss and strategize measures to curb drug abuse and narcotic trade in the district.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan, chaired the meeting and reviewed the implementation of directives and decisions taken in previous sessions.

A detailed discussion was held on issues related to drug addiction, emerging areas of concern, hotspots of drug use, and the ongoing efforts by various departments to tackle the menace of drugs.

The meeting also assessed the enforcement agencies’ actions against drug abuse and narcotic trafficking in the district.

It was informed that during the current month 8 drug peddlers were arrested and 5 FIRs were registered.
The Assistant Drug Controller conducted 90 inspections, leading to the suspension of 3 licenses.

Additionally it was informed that the district has successfully achieved 100% target in the installation of CCTV cameras, and the DC directed officials to ensure the completion of 100% target in CBS as well.

DC instructed officers to ensure zero cultivation of illicit crops across the district. He also instructed for intensifying awareness as per the formulated activity calendar.

He also urged all stakeholders for their active participation in eradicating the drug menace.
Urging collective efforts, DC called upon all stakeholders to work religiously towards making Kulgam drug-free and ‘Khushal Kulgam.’

The meeting was attended by ADC Viqar Ahmed Giri, SDM-DH Pora, ACR, College Principals of Kulgam/Kilam/Frisal, all Tehsildars, DSP Hq , BDOs and other NCORD Committee members.
