DC Kupwara reviews implementation of PCMA

KUPWARA, APRIL 12: To take stock of the implementation of the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act (PCMA) in the district, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan today convened a meeting of concerned officers, here.

Addressing the meeting, DC said that prevention of child marriage is an important cause which needs joint efforts from all stakeholders to curb the menace from the society. She impressed upon the officers to work with close coordination and make concerted efforts for this cause.

DC directed all the concerned officers to hold awareness camps at their respective levels to prevent the incidences of child marriage. It was given out that the awareness about PCMA shall be made part of the Block Diwas and Thana Diwas.

To ensure timely action on the cases, Ashas and Anganwari Workers shall report the cases to BMO or CDPO or Tehsildars/NTs who are designated as Child Marriage Prohibition Officers under prohibition of the child marriage.

The Education department shall investigate into the dropped out students to check whether it is related to child marriage.

ACR Kupwara, CEO, ALC, CDPOs and officers from Social Welfare, Police and Child Welfare Committee Kupwara were present in the meeting.
