POONCH, AUGUST 10: Deputy Commissioner Poonch Ashok Kumar Sharma today chaired a meeting to review the implementation and progress of key power-sector initiatives, including the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), Smart Metering and PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana in District Poonch.
The meeting was convened with the objective of taking a comprehensive review of the ongoing works and ensuring effective coordination among all concerned departments and agencies for timely implementation of the schemes.
The Deputy Commissioner reviewed the status of works being executed under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), particularly those aimed at strengthening and modernising the electricity distribution infrastructure in the district. The discussions also focused on smart metering, its implementation, coordination with field functionaries and the need to ensure smooth execution of the programme.
The DC stressed the importance of strengthening the distribution network and improving service delivery to consumers through modern technology and efficient monitoring mechanisms.
The meeting also discussed the progress of PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, a major initiative aimed at promoting rooftop solar installations among households and encouraging the adoption of clean and renewable energy.
The DC took stock of the participation of registered vendors in the district and emphasised the need for greater awareness among eligible households regarding the benefits and procedures under the scheme.
He directed the concerned agencies and vendors to facilitate the beneficiaries at every stage and ensure that the implementation process remains transparent, accessible and consumer-friendly.
He directed all concerned departments and agencies to work in close coordination and maintain regular monitoring of progress so that the intended benefits of these important government initiatives reach the people of District Poonch in a timely and effective manner.
The meeting was attended by the Executive Engineer, JPDCL Poonch, along with Assistant Executive Engineers, Junior Engineers and Meter Readers; AEE STD, Kamsar along with JEs and technical staff; Cluster Head, J&K Bank; LDM, J&K Bank; In-charge Draba Grid Station along with JEs and technical staff; In-charge Grid Chandak along with technical staff; Project Manager, NTPC; Managing Director, SJ Transformers and vendors associated with PM Surya Ghar in District Poonch, besides other concerned officials and representatives.
