RAJOURI, APRIL 07: Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, today chaired a comprehensive review meeting to assess the preparedness of the departments for the ensuing monsoon season and to ensure timely mitigation of any potential hazards.
During the meeting, the DC laid special emphasis on addressing key concerns including landslides, road disruptions and crop losses. He stressed the need for issuing standardized public warnings and ensuring timely diversion plans in case of road blockages. Maintaining cleanliness in towns, especially to prevent waterlogging, was also highlighted as a priority area.
The DC directed the concerned departments to ensure regular chlorination of water bodies to safeguard public health. The Agriculture and allied departments were asked to issue timely advisories to farmers to minimize losses during adverse weather conditions.
The Sheep Husbandry Department was instructed to issue duty rosters and ensure wide publicity, while the Forest Department was directed to disseminate its helpline numbers for public assistance.
Focusing on disaster preparedness, the Deputy Commissioner called for the formulation of robust contingency plans, identification of vulnerable areas and ensuring availability of essential equipment. He also instructed departments to remain active on media groups for prompt dissemination of alerts and to ensure the availability of ambulances for emergency response.
The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) and Public Works Department (PWD) were directed to take immediate measures for clearance of choked drains to prevent water accumulation and related issues.
The DC further emphasized timely reporting of any untoward incident and directed that cases of damages be submitted within 24 hours for prompt assessment and necessary action.
The Deputy Commissioner also sought detailed feedback from all departments regarding their preparedness and response mechanisms.
The meeting was attended by ADDC Malikzada Sheraz-ul-Haq; ADC Chander Prakash; ACR Mohammad Jahangir Khan; SE PWD; DFO Naveed Mughal; Town Commander; Executive Engineer PHE, Sudesh Kumar; AD FCS&CA, Rohit Kumar; CMO, Dr. Manohar Lal Rana and other district and sectoral officers attended the meeting.
SSP, Gaurav Sikarwar; Additional Deputy Commissioners of Kotranka, Kalakote, Nowshera and Sunderbani; SDM Thanamandi, ARTO and Tehsildars from across the district joined the meeting through virtual mode.
