RAMBAN, OCTOBER 30: Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Mohammad Alyas Khan along with Additional Deputy Commissioner Varunjeet Singh Charak today visited the Horticulture Farm Bhatti, Maitra to review the ongoing horticultural activities and inspect the recently developed infrastructure aimed at promoting advanced fruit plant cultivation in the district.

During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner took a firsthand appraisal of the initiatives undertaken by the Horticulture Department to develop high-quality and high-density fruit plants.

He reviewed the department’s efforts to modernize the farm and adopt innovative techniques to enhance productivity and sustainability in the horticulture sector.

The Deputy Commissioner inspected the polyhouses, nursery blocks, irrigation systems and other modern facilities established at the farm to support the propagation of improved fruit varieties. He emphasized the importance of encouraging local farmers to adopt high-density plantation models and scientific techniques to boost yield and income.

While interacting with officers and field functionaries, the DC directed the Chief Horticulture Officer (CHO) to extend all possible assistance to farmers for developing quality orchards across the district. He stressed the need to organize regular awareness and training programmes to familiarize farmers with modern cultivation practices and government schemes available under various horticulture missions.

The Deputy Commissioner also discussed the district’s potential in both traditional and hybrid fruit cultivation, noting that Ramban’s varied agro-climatic conditions offer immense scope for expanding horticulture-based livelihood opportunities.

Meanwhile, the CHO briefed the Deputy Commissioner about the department’s ongoing activities, fruit production statistics and initiatives being undertaken to strengthen the horticulture ecosystem in Ramban.
