REASI, JUNE 30: A meeting of the District Level Narco Coordination Committee (NCORD) was convened today under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Nidhi Malik at the DC Office Complex.

The meeting witnessed active participation from various departments, including the Police, Health, Education, Excise, Social Welfare and Rural Development.

During the session, the Deputy Commissioner took a comprehensive review of the measures being undertaken to curb drug abuse in the district. The Police Department apprised the chair about a doctor in Katra allegedly prescribing narcotic drugs indiscriminately. Taking serious note of this malpractice, the DC directed the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to initiate strict action against the doctor involved.

Emphasizing timely documentation and transparency, the DC directed concerned officers to ensure that details of all drug awareness camps under Nasha Mukt J&K are uploaded on the dedicated portal within the stipulated timeframe. She further instructed SDMs and BDOs to ensure high-quality photographs are uploaded and that these camps see maximum participation, especially from the youth who are the most vulnerable demographic.

The Deputy Commissioner also directed the Excise Department to procure quality drug testing kits and ensure their timely distribution to relevant departments to facilitate early detection of drug abuse cases. Additionally, the District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) was asked to inspect the functioning and facilities of the drug de-addiction centre in the district to ensure proper support for rehabilitation.

The DC reiterated the administration’s commitment to a drug-free Reasi and called for coordinated efforts from all departments and community stakeholders in this critical fight. ADC Rakesh Kumar, ACR Nitiv Verma, SDMs, ACD, CMO, Tehsildars and other officers attended the meeting.
