UDHAMPUR, MAY 02: Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Minga Sherpa today chaired a meeting of officers from the line departments to review the implementation of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan campaign in the district.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Prem Singh; Assistant Commissioner Development Om Parkash; Chief Medical Officer Dr. Anil Manhas and other concerned officers.
The DC took a detailed review of the IEC activities being carried out across the district under the Nasha Mukt campaign. He emphasized the need for intensified awareness drives at the grassroots level, particularly targeting youth, students and other vulnerable sections of society.
The DC directed the concerned departments to ensure capacity building through training of ASHA and Anganwadi workers. He further instructed that counselors be upgraded and adequate training be imparted to teachers in Government Higher Secondary Schools, Government High Schools and Degree Colleges. He also stressed that at least one teacher in every school and health institution should be provided with basic training to address substance abuse-related issues.
Highlighting the importance of vigilance, the DC urged officials to strengthen reporting mechanisms and identify drug peddlers. He also called for the organization of inter-school competitions to engage youth positively and spread awareness.
The Deputy Commissioner stressed active collaboration among stakeholder departments to ensure effective dissemination of anti-drug messages and IEC initiatives. He called for greater involvement of educational institutions, civil society organizations and the community at large to make the campaign more impactful and result-oriented.
