POONCH, MARCH, 04: Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal, also the Chairman of the District Level Road Safety Committee (DLRSC), conducted a comprehensive review of road safety measures aimed at reducing traffic accidents and ensuring public safety.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner directed the Border Roads Organization (BRO) to construct eight toilet complexes along the route from BG tunnel to Poonch town, stressing the importance of collaborating with the concerned tehsildar to identify appropriate locations.
A thorough review of black spot areas was undertaken, with specific directives issued to address pending issues to enhance road safety. The ARTO Poonch reported significant enforcement actions for 2024, highlighting the suspension of 176 driving licenses, blacklisting of 640 vehicles, cancellation of 32 licenses, and a total of 876 challans, resulting in fines amounting to 10.79 lakhs.
Additionally, the Deputy Commissioner mandated the installation of speed limit signboards and mirrors on Nakha Wali road and asked the ARTO to expedite the installation of CCTV cameras in school buses.
The Committee emphasized the need for strict actions against negligent drivers, reinforcing the importance of revoking licenses for individuals involved in accidents due to carelessness.
