DODA, OCTOBER 30: Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh on Wednesday conducted a comprehensive review of the working of the Revenue Department here at a meeting held in his Office chamber.

Assessing the progress on critical revenue-related matters, the meeting focused on digitization and updating of Jamabandis, land records and strategies for efficient land management and public service delivery. The session saw the participation of ADC Sudershan Kumar; ACR Sunil Bhutyal; besides SDMs, Tehsildars and other officials from the Revenue Department.

The primary focus of the meeting was to assess the ongoing digitization of revenue records, a step aimed at improving transparency and accessibility for citizens.

DC Singh emphasized the importance of completing the digitization process within the stipulated time frame, underscoring that digital records would play a crucial role in resolving land disputes and reducing manual workload for revenue officials. He urged the officials to ensure accuracy in record entries and suggested regular monitoring of digitization progress, advising that dedicated teams be formed for timely completion.

The meeting also discussed the Jamabandi process, an essential exercise in maintaining and updating land ownership records. DC Singh directed all Tehsildars and SDMs to prioritize Jamabandi updates and ensure thorough verification to prevent inaccuracies. He further instructed the officials to address any pending land mutation cases, highlighting that delays in mutation were a primary cause of citizen grievances. Additionally, he emphasized the need for improved coordination between the Revenue Department and local landowners to facilitate smoother record maintenance and ownership validation processes.

Instructing the Revenue Department to enhance the public grievance redress mechanism, the DC emphasized the importance of a citizen-centric approach.
