DC Sgr inaugurates Blood Donation Camp

Srinagar: The District Red Cross Society Srinagar in collaboration with the Health Department on Saturday organised a blood donation camp To mark  the ‘World Blood Donation Day’.

The camp was organised within the premises of DC Office Complex which was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar Mohammad Aijaz Asad who is also the Chairman District Red Cross Society.

During the Camp, about 50 participants including officials of the DC Office, Srinagar, Red Cross Volunteers and local people volunteered to donate the blood.

Speaking on this occasion, the DC urged people to donate blood voluntarily as it is a great service to humanity and helps in saving precious lives. He said that our single drop of blood can save precious lives and we should participate in such programmes for safeguarding humanity.

While lauding the contribution of Blood Donation Volunteer, Shabir Hussain Khan of Srinagar, who also donated blood on the occasion and has already donated blood 177 times, the DC stressed that every healthy person should come forward and donate their blood for this noble cause to increase the blood capacity in our health system.

He congratulated the Blood Donors, Volunteers and members of District Red Cross Society and urged upon people to come forward for blood donation and said that the Administration highly recognizes and appreciates the selfless service of the blood donors for the entire society.

The process of Blood Donation camp was conducted by the Health team headed by Dr Javaid Iqbal Khan of Department of Haematology & Transfusion Medicine, Lal Ded Hospital.

Later, the DC distributed certificates of appreciation to the participant volunteers.
