RAJOURI, APRIL 25: District Development Commissioner Rajouri Abhishek Sharma today conducted a surprise inspection of the Drug De-Addiction Centre to assess the functioning of the facility and the quality of services being provided to patients.
During the visit, the DDC inspected various sections of the centre, interacted with patients and staff. He reviewed the availability of medicines, counselling services and overall management of the facility. He stressed the need for a compassionate and professional approach in dealing with patients undergoing treatment for substance abuse.
It was informed that on the directions of the DDC, the psychiatry and de-addiction ward at the Associated Hospital GMC has been made operational. A total of 10 beds have been designated for this purpose in the 180-bedded IPD block. The Head of the Department (HOD) Psychiatry has been directed to take over and manage the 10-bedded ward to ensure specialized care and effective treatment of patients.
The DDC emphasized strengthening institutional mechanisms to tackle drug addiction and directed the concerned officers to ensure proper staffing, regular monitoring and improved patient care services.
District and sectoral officers accompanied the DDC during the inspection.
