DODA MAY 14: Deputy Inspector General Traffic Jammu Zone, Mohammad Haseeb Mughal today visited Doda to oversee road safety measures.
He chaired a joint meeting of senior government functionaries, and civil society members including representatives of traders associations, Auto rickshaw and lorry adda associations, and other road user groups. The purpose was to engage with the community and understand their perspectives on traffic and road safety issues.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh, SSP Javid Iqbal, SSP Traffic, DySP Traffic, DY SP Headquarters, ARTO and other officers and officials. Discussions primarily focused on collaborative efforts to address traffic management challenges and enhance road safety measures in the region.
The DIG Traffic stressed the importance of collective action with all stakeholders to ensure smooth traffic flow and create a safer environment for road users. He appreciated the active participation and valuable inputs provided by the civil society groups present.
Additionally, he urged shopkeepers to keep their goods inside their shops to avoid traffic disruptions. He further cautioned transport operators and car and bike owners against driving offenses and emphasized the importance of wearing helmets while riding bikes and using seat belts, avoiding rash driving. He also cautioned passenger vehicle owners against installing extra passenger seats.
DC Doda Harvinder Singh, while speaking at the meeting, urged people to adhere to traffic rules and regulations. He acknowledged the crucial role played by NGOs and civil society in promoting road safety and expressed hope that newly constructed multi-car parking in Doda would alleviate traffic pressure. Additionally, he informed about the identification of Waqf land for parking management in GMC Doda to ensure proper functioning and execution of GMC operations. He urged public participation to support traffic management efforts in the district.
