BANDIPORA, JUNE 20: As part of the ongoing 100-Day Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, educational institutions across Bandipora district on Saturday organized a series of awareness programmes, life skills sessions and pledge ceremonies aimed at sensitizing students about the harmful effects of drug abuse and promoting a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.

The activities were conducted in Government High School Achoora, Government High School Garoora, Government High School Odina, Government High School Kanzalwan, High School Panar, Higher Secondary Schools Quilmuqam, Chuntimulla, Nowgam Bandipora and Sumbal, besides Government Degree College Gurez.

During the programmes, students were educated about the physical, mental, social and economic consequences of substance abuse. Special focus was laid on Life Skills (Refusal Skills), enabling students to confidently resist drugs and other harmful substances, overcome negative peer pressure and make responsible decisions.

At several institutions, students actively participated in interactive awareness sessions and discussions highlighting the importance of self-confidence, discipline and healthy lifestyle choices. Anti-drug pledge ceremonies were also held wherein students and staff reaffirmed their commitment towards creating a drug-free society and spreading awareness about the dangers of substance abuse.

Meanwhile, Higher Secondary School Sumbal organized a pre-Yoga Day rehearsal ahead of the International Day of Yoga, emphasizing the significance of physical fitness, mental well-being and healthy living as key components of a drug-free lifestyle.

At Government Degree College Gurez, an awareness programme was organized for outgoing sixth-semester students. Principal, Prof. Farooq Ahmad Mir addressed the participants and highlighted the adverse impacts of drug abuse on individuals, families and society. He urged students to adopt a healthy and disciplined lifestyle and play an active role in promoting awareness within their communities.

The programmes concluded with participants reaffirming their commitment to the objectives of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and the collective resolve to build a healthier, safer and drug-free Bandipora.
